Most Virginian's don't even know we have the right to carry a firearm openly. I don't recomend, nor suggest that everyone should carry openly until they understand the responsibility of doing so. However, every Virginian has the God given right to protect themselves from harm as recognized by our fore-fathers. Many of whom lived in Virginia as they started to form this great nation . This right was stated clearly in the Constitution's second amendment and was recently recognized by our Supreme Court. Those who oppose the legal carrying of firearms by law-abiding citizens often state that those who do carry live thier lives in fear. In my experience, it's those who oppose who live in fear, because they don't understand the carrying laws in Virginia and have no experience with the safe handling of, nor have ever fired a gun. Therefore, they fear what they don't understand. We as Virginian's, and being as law-abiding citizens should have the same right on public land to and state land to carry a firearm openly.
