Yes to Handgun Carry in State Forests

It seems to be a no-brainer that we citizens of Virginia would permit ALL citizens of Virginia who can otherwise legally do so carry handguns, concealed or not, in state forests.  In doing so we ensure that all Virginians can provide for their self defense without limitation.  This, it seems to me, is one of the basic liberties we sought to ensure when we declared our independence from England/Great Britain.

People today are just as much in need of personal security as ever if not more so.  To make them choose between utilizing publicly owned land and their own and their family's security is

unconscionabl.  One of the purposes of this government is to ensure that all citizens are secure in their own persons.  In the remote areas of state forests, particularly in times of budget cuts, this is impossible unless the individual is permitted to exercise their RIGHT to self-defense.
