Yes, by all means.  I think that the fear of guns only allows criminals to carry guns whereas the armed, voting citizen MUST have his/her rights protected to carry a handgun whether open or concealed.  Law abiding citizens carrying weapons will actually make the forests safer not less safe.

I completely support the carrying of firearms in Virginia forests.
