I usually visit the parks once or twice a year but I've never stayed there because I'm not allowed to bring my protection with me. While over the years there have not been many instances of crimes or murder in the park system, I feel uncomfortable with the idea of camping or hiking without a means of defending myself. Further, my wife refuses to hike through the park without a means of protection.
The idea that people who have had background checks and training on how to handle a firearm are dangerous is somewhat precarious logic. I urge you to change the rules so that it is legal to carry a pistol into the parks.
Thank you,
