I absolutely support this petition because it is another step closer to removing the inconsistency that exists in VA's approach to the lawful carry handguns.  The request being made in this petition is to allow law abiding citizen to carry a sidearm for personal protection throughout our public forests as we are permitted to do throughout the rest of VA's public lands.  This request does not create a safety hazard for unarmed citizens that wish to use the forests, in fact is has no effect on those individuals at all except to create a deterent effect for the miscreants that look for defensless prey.  Those hell bent on carrying a weapon against the law, as it stands, already do so and they are the ones that should be feared because they will do as they please because there aren't enough LEOs to catch them all.  Approval of this petition rights a restrictions put in place to pacify the uneducated and irrational.
