open and concelaed carry in State Forests

I am  a former police officer and retired military.  The 2nd Amendment is the Amendment that protects all of the others in our Bill of Rights.  Virginia law alllows open carry and concelaed carry and I see no reason why State Forests should be able to prohibit the lawful carry of firearms.  By disarming law abiding citizens you make them easy prey for criminals who are NOT abiding by the law.  Gun free zones do not work and have been shown time and time again to be nothing but magnets for criminals to have free reign on attacking citizens.  Forests are areas have little  patroling by law enforcement officers which opens them up for criminals to have a free hand in most cases to do as they please to unsuspecting citizens who imagine they have nothing to worry about in the beautiful forest.  unfortuantely crime is on the rise and with the worseneing economy expect it to get much worse.  DO NOT TAKE AWAY THE RIGHT OF THE CITIZEN TO PROTECT THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILY.
