I believe in the 2nd amendment and the right of self defense.  I am currently a reserve law enforcement officer after having served as a fulltime police officer for 10 years.  I believe that all law abiding citizens have the right to defend themselves and their families if necessary.  People who think that by barring handguns in a certain area you can create a safe enviroment are living in a dream world.  Criminals really don't care that the law, or some administrative rule, bars them from bringing a gun with them...that is why the rest of society calls them criminals!  All law abiding citizens, not just those of us who carry a badge, have the right to carry firearms for defense even in a "safe" place like a park.
