It is critical that any citizen who meets the personal requirements for open or concealed carry in the State of Virginia be allowed to do so in these areas. Crime and criminal activity occur in these places just as in others. Some people may be uncomfortable with the idea of law abiding citizens carrying; their argument is there is no need to carry in such a place unless they are doing so for some illegal purpose. The counter-argument is that it is those very situations when you are confronted by someone who means to do you harm that you might wish that you were able to protect yourself.

To all of my fellow Virginians who are against this petition, I say this - law abiding citizens in our Commonwealth who carry are NOT the problem. Are you willing to stake your life on the "kindness" of those who are?
