Being able to carry a firearm either openly or concealed is a good idea.

People with less than honorable intentions will carry even if the law says they can't.

It is also possible to encounter snakes and other dangerous animals in the forest.

People with carry permits have been shown to be the most law abiding group of citizens. Allowing people to carry in the forest just makes sense.
