I support the CACREP standards and strongly believe these standards provide consistency in the counseling field and support a level of legitimacy for our profession. As a counselor education doctoral student, I believe these standards provide structure and guidance to a solid curriculum for counselors-in-training.  I currently serve as a site supervisor for practicum and internship students, and I believe it is crucial that students pursuing a graduate degree in counselor education have the structure and standards of professional counseling in the organization of CACREP.  I absolutely selected a graduate program that was CACREP accredited, and I recommend to those pursuing a masters degree in counselor education to do the same.
