Why are we divisive? Let's focus on the 60 quality hrs. of graduate prep. We're ALL needed! United!

As a pioneer of Maryland's licensure, and NOT grand(parented) into individual licensure, we painstakingly worked with our graduate programs, our Maryland legislators, and AMHCA. and the ACA to specify a high quality, minimum 60 hour graduate academic licensure requirement. Additionally, 3000 hours of supervised clinical and specialized experience and 100 hours of clinical supervision must be successfully completed and documented for consideration of licensure approval by our Maryland Board of Counselors and Therapists. Granted, the CACREP exclusivity might simplify the work of our State Boards; but our professional goals are NOT based on simplicity. Our mission (in ALL states!) is to provide LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELORS who will provide the highest quality mental health care and counseling in the areas of need that pervade our society. Need I mention them? Let's focus on our mission--TOGETHER. Let's unify our NATIONWIDE Mental Health Counselor mission WITHOUT the divisiveness of insisting on CACREP EXCLUSIVITY....With Hopeful Regards, Bill
