First trimester abortions are similar to, or safer than, other outpatient procedures such as colonoscopies, vision correction surgery, cosmetic surgery and dental surgery. However, the doctors’ offices performing these types of procedures are NOT included in the legislation. Virginia has some actual pressing health problems, such as the drastic lack of services for people living with HIV, mental illnesses, and physical disabilities, just for starters. When is the Board going to stop pouring scarce resources where there isn't a problem?
