Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

If agencies such as OSHA and the EPA have the authority to inspect business premises to ensure the safety of adults that can make informed, rational decisions about the environment they choose to work in, shouldnt greater diligence be given to ensuring the safety of those who are often young, irrational and emotionally incapable of defending themselves in environments with people in positions they have been trained to trust, i.e. doctors and nurses. We have codes in the Commonwealth on everything from how wiring is installed to where signs can be placed. Arent our daughters and their physical well being worth at least the same scrutiny. A plumber has to call for an inspection of his work according to county codes. Shouldnt those that choose to operate a facility that offers these types of services that can have serious health implications for teenage girls be routinely overseen as much as someone installing a toilet" Or have our health standards fallen that low. They sure do apply to the rest of the medical field. Standards were agreed upon and nothing has changed. Please maintain these regulations for the sake of of your children and mine as well. Imagine the political suicide if another Gosnell like facility were discovered under your watch after removing these regulations. Jay Judkins
