No "Eminent Domain" Over Women's Bodies

The increasingly costly, unnecessary and byzantine reqirements imposed on women's clinics by politicians seeking to impose their own moral constraints on women are an affront to freedom and equal protection. They are today's equivalent of a poll tax on women who seek to exercise their right to a legal abortion.

Please uphold equal protection and equal treatment under the law for women by ending discriminatory regulations so we can make medical choices as freely as men do. Virginia is fast becoming a "nanny state" exercising eminent domain over women's bodies. Women must have sovereignty over their own bodies -- not the State. Please abolish regulations that treat women differently and that serve to deny us access to the full range of medical care to which the U.S. Constitution  entitles us.

The regulations clamping down on women's clinics wrongly and blatantly discriminate against one particular kind of outpatient clinic. Please repeal the capricious rules that impose extra burdens on women's clinics alone. Do not allow clinics providing women's reproductive services to be treated differently than other medical clinics. Requirements for women's clinics should be consistent with regulations for all other other clinics performing surgery, such as dental surgery, laser eye surgery, conoloscopies, vasectomies and cosmetic surgery.

I urge you to repeal the restrictive and regulations that women's health clinics are subjected to in Virginia. Abolish burdensome regulations that single out women's clinics and threaten the continued availability of women's acess to safe and legal reproductive services.
