Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

I strongly desire that Virginia retain and enforce the current abortion regulations. It is my strong belief that, until Abortion is ended, it is vital that Virginia continue to maintain the current health and safety standards for abortions and abortion clinics. Abortion is a dangerous procedure that warrants extreme caution to ensure the safety and health of women. No woman should be subjected to substandard healthcare, something that relaxing previously passed abortion regulations would bring about. Evidence overwhelmingly indicates the need for current, if not stronger regulations. Inspections over the last two years have exposed widespread health and safety violations including blood splattered exam tables and equipment, unsterilized needles, incomplete lifesaving equipment, violations of Virginia parental consent laws, an absence of reporting of possible cases of child abuse, and many more deficiencies. Abortion is not safe, over 300 health and safety violations validate that fact. The abortion industry requires much stronger regulation! It is unconscionable to even consider reducing health and safety standards for women. Virginia MUST retain and even strengthen the previously passed abortion regulation standards and ensure women are protected. Chuck Weddle
