Parental Notification When Sexually Explicit Materials Are Used in the Classroom

It has been reported recently that some parents have been horrified by the fact that there are cases in which sexually explicit books have been used in the classroom without the notification or consent of parents.  As the custodians and guardians of their young people's lives, parents have a right to be consulted and made aware of such school policies before they are ever implemented and, when parents find the materials objectionable, their students should be allowed to substitute more appropriate materials for use in order to meet the requirements of the class.  Thank you for your attentioon to this matter.
