restraints on pregnant inmates

Recognizing that inmates might not always be the most docile of people, it makes sense for pregnant women to be given more freedom of movement during pregnancy and especially during labor and delivery, to avoid harming the baby she carries as well as herself. Far better to lock the door to a delivery room if absolutely necessary than to pin her down or cuff her to a bed. And please let her hold and feed her baby if it is safe to do so! Mom and baby don't need any more trauma than necessary.
