Action | Amend Minimum Standards for Jails and Lockups to add requirements on restraint of pregnant offenders |

The Board of Corrections has proposed regulations limiting the use of
certain physical restraints on female inmates before, during and
immediately after childbirth. Restraining pregnant women unnecessarily
is inhumane and endangers the life of the mother as well as her unborn
child. These commonsense regulations ensure that both the mother and
child are protected during pregnancy, labor and delivery.
Please support the Board of Corrections and all those in prison in their efforts to respect women and their babies during labor by limiting the use of certain inhumane physical restraints.
