Religious fundamentalism has no place in inherently governmental functions

Religious fundamentalism has no place in inherently governmental functions such as adoption of wards of the state, or the department of motor vehicles, or the department of taxation, &c. GLBT families aren't allowed to opt-out of taxation or motor vehicle laws, so why shoud they be discriminated against when they open their hearts and homes to orphaned or abandoned children? Mendacious religious fundamentalists are a menace to children, as shown by the high rate of GLBT teen suicide from religious households, so why have they not been deemed unfit to adopt or foster children? Clearly, a double standard exists. Virginia must enter the modern era by ending state regulations that fail to protect gay and lesbian individuals from becoming adoptive or foster parents.
