As I am learning, the state board of elections will disqualify abstentee votes due to insignificant features such as a poorly written signature (which is absurd as hand writing is increasingly poor for younger voters and degenerating for the elderly), incorrect grammar or spelling. This kind of mincing, unreasonable attitude has the ring of political subterfuge and is dangerous to the democratic process. It should be made more difficult for election officials to disqualify absentee votes rather than the reverse.
