Please do not discriminate

Though I myself was raised in a very happy home with heterosexual parents, I have many, many friends, colleagues and other aquaintences that either are gay and raising children or have been raised by non-traditional parents. They are all PEOPLE. When will our society actually practice tolerance to diversity. Everyone claims to do so, but it seems very little actually do.  Every single child deserves the right to be loved, cherished and cared for in a loving home. In matters of adoption, the only consideration should be for the well-being of the child. Studies have shown that children with gay parents are every bit as "normal" as any other child. In fact, self-esteem in these children has been higher than the average child. So, this is just my plea as a citizen of Virginia, a friend of many gay couples that would like to adopt a child, and an advocate to adoptable children that deserve a loving home. Please do not discriminate. Discrimination will only hurt adoptable children. Thank you.
