Dept. of Social & Health Services in regard to Adoption

My husband and I are adoptive parents of two girls that are now grown. The screening process was arduous. We believe that it should be.  This regulation is a real bad idea and in our opinion 'agenda driven'.  Any placement agency that is a real true advocate for children in need will first put the child's welfare over the perspectivel of the foster or adoptive guardian. This newly proposed regulation may make the caregiver selection pool broader, but more likely, not better.  When considering child protection, the best family environment requires selective guidelines. Age, religion, sexual orientation, mental stability, & family status are all valid reasons to be selective when considering the best family environment.
