As a mother to two adopted children, I can see how important it is for a child to have both a mother and a father - male and female.  And, it is vital to allow private, religious adoption agencies to provide services, such as adoption, that is according to their beliefs.  This action would not only harm children, but be a violation of the separation of church and state.
