Commenter: Jennifer, Adoptive Parent

From an adoptive mother

I am commenting as an adoptive parent. Let me clarify. I am a legally married heterosexual woman who adopted a little girl with my husband 4.5 years ago. I am against forcing adoption agencies to consider adoptions of children to homosexual couples. In fact, I am against children being placed with homosexual couples. Period.

What I am for, is any legislation aimed at the increased protection or welfare of the child, before and after adoption. This legislation is mainly aimed at extending the 'rights' of the people wanting to adopt. There is something grossly wrong when this takes precedent over the welfare of the child. Studies have repeatedly shown that children need the influence of both a mother and a father- a male AND female. That without either of the parties present in the child's upbringing, the child is more apt to develop social disorders and be more susceptible to a life of crime.  It is in the best interest of EACH and EVERY child to be brought up with BOTH a married father and mother, man and woman.

I am against this legislation as I described above, but also from a moral and religious point of view.

Thank you for considering my comment.
