changes to camelid testing

I am wiriting in support of legislation that would allow camelids from tb/brucellosis and low incidence bluetongue areas to enter virginia for shows with a cvi instead of health testint.  First of all I have been testing animals for 15 years for this show and never had any positive tests and find the testing to be prohibitively expensive (100/animal) so that show entries and commerce of sales are declining.  No cases of camelid bovine disease transmission have been documented  with the exception of BVD which all alpacas are tested.  Please allow this change to support the camelid industry and the opportunity for youth to show their animals.  Marian Shaw D.V.M.
