| Purpose of the meeting An informational public meeting regarding an application to modify an existing Virginia Pollution Abatement Permit for Houff's Feed & Fertilizer Co., Inc. to land apply biosolids and industrial residuals in Rockbridge County. The purpose of the public meeting is for the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to exchange information with the interested public on technical issues related to the proposed permit modification such as: site-specific information that DEQ may consider when drafting the permit modification; the standard content of permits; and how the public can provide comment on a draft permit modification. Houff’s Feed & Fertilizer Co., Inc. has submitted an application for the modification of an existing permit that would authorize the land application of biosolids and industrial residuals as fertilizer to an additional 858.1 acres of agricultural land at 8 sites located within Rockbridge County at controlled rates protective of water quality and human health.
