| Purpose of the meeting An informational meeting for the Department to exchange information with the interested public on technical issues concerning a permit application and on how the public can provide comment on a draft permit. The types of information to be provided include site-specific information that the Department may consider when drafting a permit and the standard content of permits. Houff’s Feed & Fertilizer Co., Inc. has submitted a permit application for modification of their existing VPA Permit No. VPA01580 that authorizes the land application of Class B biosolids, water treatment plant residuals, and industrial residuals to 3,263.1 acres of agricultural land at a controlled rate protective of water quality and human health. Of this area, 370.4 acres are newly proposed. Following the public meeting described in this notice, the Department may draft a permit based on information in the application and, if a permit is drafted, the Department will publish notice of the draft permit for public comment. That notice will include instructions on how to comment and/or request a public hearing on the draft permit. Based on comments received on the draft permit, the Department may make a final decision on the permit, or hold a public hearing on the draft permit, in which case, the State Water Control Board would make the final decision on the permit. The public may review the permit application at the public meeting and at the Department office named below. | |
