| Purpose of the meeting This is the second meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) for the North Fork Catoctin Creek TMDL.Biological monitoring data collected by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) have shown that portions of North Fork Catoctin Creek do not meet Virginia’s water quality aquatic life use standard due to poor health in the benthic macroinvertebrate communities. Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act and §62.1-44.19:7.C of the State Water Control Law require DEQ to develop TMDLs for pollutants responsible for each impaired water contained in Virginia’s 303(d) TMDL Priority List and Report. The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ),DEQ, with assistance from Virginia Tech - Biological Systems Engineering Department (VT-BSE), will be presenting the results of the draft stressor identification analysis. The draft stressor analysis was completed to identify the most probable stressors to the benthic communities in North Fork Catoctin Creek, and will lead into the TMDL development phase of the project.
