| Purpose of the meeting A public meeting to exchange information on technical issues concerning a permit modification application; such as site-specific information that the Department of Environmental Quality may consider when drafting a permit, the standard content of permits and how the public can provide comment on a draft permit. Houff's Feed & Fertilizer Co., Inc. has submitted a permit application for modification of their existing VPA Permit No. VPA01566 that authorizes the land application of Class B biosolids, WTP residuals, and industrial residuals to 6,591 acres of agricultural land at a controlled rate protective of water quality and human health. Of this area, 2,179.4 acres are newly proposed. Following the public meeting described in this notice, DEQ may draft a permit based on information in the application and, if a permit is drafted, DEQ will publish notice of the draft permit for public comment. That notice will include instructions on how to comment and/or request a public hearing on the draft permit. Based on comments received on the draft permit, DEQ may make a final decision on the permit, or hold a public hearing on the draft permit, in which case, the State Water Control Board would make the final decision on the permit. The public may review the permit application at the public meeting and at the DEQ office named below. | |
