| Purpose of the meeting A public hearing to receive comment on a draft permit modification for the Atlantic Waste Disposal, Inc. landfill in Sussex County. The modification to the permit would allow the facility to increase the disposal area by 35.5 acres, which includes adding approximately 22.6 acres of new disposal area by adjusting the permitted boundaries of Cells 7A through 12C and adding approximately 12.9 acres of new disposal area on the west side by extending the liner of Cells 1 and 2 and creating new Cells 2A, 3A, and 4A. As a result of this permit modification, the total disposal area for the facility will be approximately 409.0 acres. The maximum elevation of the landfill will be at 504 feet.The public comment period runs from December 25, 2013 until January 14, 2014. DEQ accepts comments by e-mail, fax or postal mail. All comments must include the name, address and telephone number of the person commenting and be received by DEQ within the comment period. DEQ also accepts written and oral comments at public hearings. The public may review the draft permit and application at the DEQ office named below. Copies of the permit documents are also available at Agnes Taylor Gray Library at 125 Bank Street in Waverly. | |
