Hello, According to CODA guidelines there are dental specialties that have been established. They go through strict accreditation criteria which involves a certain number of faculty, didactic time, clinical time and a robust curriculum which takes an individual 24-36 months of full time committment. This is 4000-6000 hrs of supervised education by multiple faculty. This is what makes them a specialist. Any other 'course' that does not meet these standards cannot be a 'specialist' course. Would you like your baby delivered by a doctor who went for a 100 hr weekend course? Would you like your angiography done by a doctor who has attended remote learning courses? It is ludacrious to consider taking the definition of specialist out.
