solar power

Quite simply, I support any and all types of solar installations.  It is bird friendly, quiet, efficient, can service small communities of users independently minimizing the very apparent risk of wide spread power failures.  I strongly support moving  as much power source to solar because the threat from climate change is already huge and growing. Solar will be a major contribution to Climate disaster mitigation.

I do not have my own installation.  My service comes from SVEC where I have purchased RECs to offset the damage from burning fossil fuels.  I am hoping that RECs will help stimulate a growing market for solar and other alternatives to fossil fuel for those of us without individual systems.

To invest in any new fossil fuel consumption in my opinion is ludicrous. Every dollar and ingenuity should be spent on non-fossil fuels to make the conversion as rapidly as possible.  The so-called bridge fuels can be eliminated by conservation during the conversion process.   Conversion to non fossil fuels cannot happen fast enough in this dire situation we have created  at the greed of oil companies.

Moreover, traditional fuel sources are filthy, toxic, and explosive.  The pipes and lines carrying these fuels have consistently leaked, broken, exploded and caught fire spreading their toxins far beyond the point of accident.  It is simply not possible to "clean up" such "spills" no matter what materials you use.

For the sake of the planet and all its inhabitants, I  hope clear and humane thinking will prevail among the decision makers.  The lives of my children depend on their ethics and ability to think clearly using the scientific method.
